The opportunity to take control of the Central Committee at the Second Congress came in July 1905. Lenin established himself as a major voice.

 

Lenin Decides To Adopt the Name Bolsheviks

-After 1905 revolution Lenin decides to split from the Social Democratic Party because:

 

The outbreak of the revolution prompted Lenin to make the break away from the main body of the Social Democratic Party. In April 1905 Lenin met with the Third Congress of the Social Democratic Party in an unauthorized meeting. Here Lenin was surrounded by members that were of his own faction and thus was able to have his resolutions approved. This was the official beginning of the separation of the two factions in the Social Democratic Party. After the put down of an uprising soon after, the two branches made somewhat of an attempt to reunite. But Lenin could not get the majority and lost on many issues such as armed detachments. The Bolsheviks and were bound to be apart from the Mensheviks and other opposition.
