Bolshevik Factors:
-Lenin’s speeches and writings helped spread Bolshevik ideas
-Had superior organization and greater ruthlessness
-Had tacit support from both Lenin and Trotsky
-Bolsheviks had appearance of united front
-Most important factor was the Bolshevik funding
- Donations from sympathizers
- They were ready to go to any length to receive money
- The Schmitt affair was an example of the lengths Lenin would go to
-Lenin exploited every opportunity that he got
- In 1908, police infiltration had become a problem. Lenin decided to use the police for his own gain
- A prime example of this is Lenin’s involvement with Roman Malinovskii.
- Used him to deliver fiery prepared speeches against Lenin’s opposition.
- Used Malinovskii to establish the Bolshevik Daily Pravada
-The Provisional Government underestimated Lenin and his capabilities
